Your first visit with Dr. Dorn will take place in person at her Chapel Hill office. During the 90 minute session, she will perform a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation that will result in an individualized treatment plan customized for you.
This assessment will involve a detailed interview discussing current symptoms as well as your medical, developmental, family, academic, social and psychiatric history. She will ask about previous treatments, noting what has and hasn’t worked. Your own treatment and personal goals will remain a priority.
It can be helpful to bring any pharmacy records, psychoeducational testing reports or pharmacogenetic testing reports with you.
The initial assessment may require secondary sessions if more information is needed from you or if collateral information is necessary from loved ones, therapists or doctors.
Initial Appointment
Follow-Up Appointments
Follow-up appointments can take place in person or virtually, via a secure and confidential video platform.
In the early days of working together, follow-ups typically last around 45 minutes so that you and Dr. Dorn can continue to build rapport and she can gather a deeper understanding of current concerns, assess treatment response and fine-tune your treatment plan. Appointments typically occur more frequently at the beginning of treatment.
Over time, it is common for appointments to become briefer in duration and less often in frequency, as improvement and stability are achieved. The frequency of follow-ups generally ranges from twice a month to once every three months.
If worsening of symptoms occurs, you can rest assured that Dr. Dorn will make time to see you promptly!
Appointments are billed based on the amount of time spent in session.
For your convenience, our practice sends appointment reminders by text and email before each session. Late arrivals, late cancellations and missed appointments will incur a fee.
